The Coffee Story

Have you ever wondered who’s behind the cup of coffee served to you? When it comes to me, I am very intrigued and often watch closely what is happening behind the barista bar. I’m not trying to be creepy here, but my aim is to learn from their work flow and spot any unusual brewing methods, if any, which is usually a conversation starter.

Sharing my thoughts with the barista helps me with two things, he/she knows that I am serious about drinking well prepared coffee. Second, the conversation always leads to their coffee journey. In this new segment, I would like to highlight the story of some of these people I have met along the way.

Some of them are quite close to me, some of them not. But that doesn’t matter, I consider them as coffee experts. I go to them for any coffee knowledge or queries and they are always available to answer. There are a lot of parameters to get right and it all boils down to two things for that perfect cup of coffee - quality and consistency. Our conversation mostly revolves around these two aspects.

The highlight of the coffee shop has be the barista bar, I am a sucker for a well-designed barista bar. I have decided on Grandmother Roastery’s bar as the cover photo for this segment, this is something I have always imagined my cafe to have. I have visited them a couple of times already this year and have become quite acquainted with Freddie and his amazing team.

I have been searching high and low for an inspiration to come up with a perfect name for this section - experts, aficionados are some of the words I have used in my blog but I wasn’t satisfied. After some brainstorming, I decided to settle for The Coffee Story. And that is around the same time when I came across The Roast Story.

Just to make myself clear, there will be no distinction in this segment, no rankings, no ratings, and most importantly no one makes coffee better than the other. All of them make good coffee in their own way, and I am simply going to highlight their coffee story while sipping on the coffee they’ve made for me.

My first guest is someone you have seen from time to time on my Instagram stories. He has just moved to Dubai and he is a man wearing many hats. That doesn’t stop him from brewing a good cup of coffee. Be it espresso, milk based, or filter. He can do it all. Coffee might be his true passion, but not his final calling. I am excited for this and there will even be a coffee giveaway soon. But, you’ll have to wait few more days. It’ll be worth it in the end, I promise.
