The Ultimate Flat White at The Barn Dubai
Ever since I found out about The Barn’s version of the Christmas Flat White last year, I have been really craving it. The flat white became my favorite milk beverage thanks to Allan, who has now moved to Germany to work with The Barn. You can read his coffee journey here. It’s one of the most viewed on the blog.
The Barn even released a video showcasing the recipe and the method of preparation. It’s not rocket science. So, what is the Winter Flat White, you ask? In simple terms, this is a chai latte but better. The Barn wanted to create something that involves two of their favorite things: coffee and tea.
The recipe is pretty straight forward. This year, their Christmas Coffee is from Brazil. For tea, they are using Paper & Tea Cederberg Chai. This is a rooibos based tea mixed with various spices like coriander, cloves, liquorish roots.
15g of ground coffee with 3g of chai in the portafilter, tamp it, and extract it like regular espresso. Pour it with steamed milk and you have a beverage that tastes like melted gingerbread in short.
You can only get this at The Barn Dubai. What better way to enjoy it than under the most beautiful tree in Dubai. I didn’t say this, portafilter did. Take Andy’s word for it, and perhaps mine too.
Pair it up with a warm Schnecke, famous German pastry similar to a cinnamon roll. Treat for your tastebuds. While you are it, take a peak at what Ralf has to say on portafilter.
