Sharing my coffee experiences on The Blog
A Recap of the Aiya Matcha Masterclass
Matcha has been all the rage lately, and for good reason! Coffee enthusiasts were invited to learn about the artistry of matcha and discover its rich history, benefits, and true flavor. The attendees learned how to make ceremonial-grade matcha and much more thanks to Aiya, Victoria Arduino and Alpro.
Making a Difference at Origin with ROR Roastery
International Women’s Day at ROR was nothing short of inspirational as they announced their partnership with Esther Mukangango, a Rwandan women farmer representing the Nyampinga Cooperative. Esther shares her story on how women-led farms are making waves in Rwanda and through her coffee we got a glimpse of the cooperative’s sheer will and determination to rise from poverty and create a better life for themselves and their families.
An Edifying Coffee Cupping Experience
Last week, COFE and INTELLECT hosted a very special cupping session. Surrounded by a variety of La Marzocco espresso machines, this beautiful showroom is the ideal space for boosting raising coffee experiences. Some of Intellect’s best offering was on the cupping table.
An Elated Coffee Experience like no other
In March, I was invited to what was the finest coffee tasting experience I have had so far. This micro-lot coffee tasting event at Two Neighbors was comparable to fine dining. Within no time, this cafe decided it was time to reveal Season Two. Seatings were limited so whoever managed to reserve them, consider yourselves lucky because the bar just got raised again.
How one Specialty Cafe in Dubai is Paying Tribute to Baristas
The past week I was invited to Mokha 1450 Coffee Lounge for a coffee experience. Little did we know we were all gathered to celebrate Mokha 1450’s baristas and to commemorate their hard work. Read how this specialty coffee pioneer is supporting our friends behind the bar.
The Finest Coffee Tasting Experience by Two Neighbors
I have been invited to multiple coffee tasting events, and like those, I expected the same at Two Neighbors this past weekend — somewhere along the lines of a coffee cupping or a bar side brewing experience. Boy, was I wrong?
Highlights from World of Coffee Dubai 2023
World of Coffee Dubai 2022 was the talk-of-the-town when the first edition was announced in the fourth quarter of 2019. As the curtains of that event closed, it promised an even bigger event the subsequent year. This year’s event hosted more than 12,000 visitors, a twofold increase from last year.
Triangulating my coffee palate
I have always been fascinated with developing my palate. I don’t know about you but the ability to identify different aromas and notes are rewarding. I found myself triangulating coffee recently with the Grandmother team. It was humbling to know that I am not very good in identifying defects, but on the plus side, it was a great learning experience.
It’s the season of coffee cupping
Now that all the coffee competitions have somewhat come to an end or on pause, cupping events have surfaced. It’s great watching our favorite baristas compete, but cupping takes the cake when it involves tasting delicious coffee.
The how, where and what of coffee
My specialty coffee journey officially started a few years ago when I had won the London Dairy Coffee Master Class. I have two people to thank, Karthik and Drew. So, when The Grey invited me for an event named the How, Where and What of Coffee in collaboration with Three Coffee, it was reminiscent of the start of my specialty coffee journey.
Highlights from World of Coffee Dubai 2022
When World of Coffee announced that it will take place in Dubai, I had the faintest idea that it would be at this scale. This is Europe’s largest coffee trade show that travels to a different city in Europe every year.
Judging the Mattina Coffee Latte Art Battle
What if I told you that I was a judge for a latte art completion, would you believe it? Me neither. I’m grateful to the guys at Mattina Coffee for inviting me to be one of the judges for their end of the year latte art battle that happened earlier this week.
Thoughts About The Global Coffee Townhall 2021
What is the Global Coffee Townhall? This was a live event by MAP IT FORWARD where all parties involved in the coffee value chain discussed a very important question, What needs to change in the coffee industry in 2021 and beyond?
Competing at the UAE National Barista Championship
I’m grateful to be connected with so many individuals in this industry. I was recently invited to watch a presentation of a participant competing in the UAE National Barista Championship and give feedback on her performance. I’m no where qualified to be a judge, but I was at awe of her dedication to perfect her routine to the minutest level.
Mattina Coffee x Hacienda La Esmeralda Coffee Tasting
The coffee events are at full swing and perhaps the most talked about is the Milan World Coffee Championships taking place in Italy. I wish I could attend it in-person but I was pretty excited ending last week with Mattina Coffee and Hacienda La Esmeralda Coffee Tasting.
