Sharing my coffee experiences on The Blog
What I’m Brewing: Ethiopia Sidamo by The Climbing Goat Roastery
The Climbing Goat Roastery started its inception at the Depachika Food Hall in Nakheel Mall almost two years ago. I have been here a few times but ever since they opened in Dubai Festival City Mall, it has become my regular mainly because of convenience.
Mattina Coffee x Hacienda La Esmeralda Coffee Tasting
The coffee events are at full swing and perhaps the most talked about is the Milan World Coffee Championships taking place in Italy. I wish I could attend it in-person but I was pretty excited ending last week with Mattina Coffee and Hacienda La Esmeralda Coffee Tasting.
The Coffee Story: Kabiito Baker Ali
Kabiito had humble beginnings. He was not fulfilled at work but with coffee he found his calling. He accepted the new role as a challenge and pushed day and night to perfecting the art of making coffee.
The Barn Berlin Experience in Dubai
It was a great end to the weekend with a visit to The Barn Berlin UAE now making its debut in Dubai. The Barn is not new to this region, the coffee is quite popular and can be found in many cafes across Dubai.
Specialty Coffee Drip Bags for Travel Convenience
Specialty coffee drip bags have been around for a while, they were introduced in Japan in the 1990’s and has become one of the best solutions to enjoy a fresh cup of coffee on-the-go. That means you won’t have to carry a kettle and a grinder with you, and only need access to a mug and hot water.
What I’m Brewing: Colombia La Esperanza by Mzllah
The name Mzllah caught my attention when I was going through the sponsors list for the 2021 UAE Aeropress Championship last month. To my surprise, it was an artisanal roastery and cafe in Fujairah. I have been patiently waiting since to make a work trip to this emirate and stop by Mzllah for a cup of coffee.
The Coffee Story: Mahad Bujingo
Mahad has been working as a barista for seven years in the UAE after hustling at odd jobs in Kuwait. His dedication to become a professional in this industry opened many doors for him, and now he is one of the partners in Naseej Cafe.
What I’m Brewing: Vietnam Catimor by CoffeeHEADS
When CoffeeHEADS first started posting on Instagram earlier this year, I wasn’t sure of what to make of it. Two things stuck to me that very moment, one was the #BringCoffeeBack hashtag. Second one, the idea and the photography behind their posts was well thought out.
The Coffee Story: Peter Allane Ong
Allan has been working in the hospitality industry for more than decade. He was introduced to the concept of specialty coffee after becoming a head barista. He is now managing some of the cafes in Berlin, Germany for The Barn.
What I’m Brewing: Colombia Narino by First Crack Coffee Roasters
I have kinda got used to discovering new coffee places wherever my work takes me. This time it was in Ajman, and it was a roastery. First Crack Roastery is perhaps the only specialty coffee roastery in Ajman.
Experiencing Vietnamese Coffee for the First Time
I had recently read about Vietnamese coffee briefly in Standart and it had left my mind until recently Sumit, an acquaintance who I meet every time I pop over at DMCC for a coffee tasting event, shared a story on Instagram. It featured a peculiar silver dripper I haven’t seen before.
The Coffee Story: Herman Jubya
I first met Herman briefly at the old branch of Coffee Architecture, at that time he brewed an Ethiopian Cup of Excellence on a Cortado roasted by Archers, needless to say it was excellent. They were on the process of moving to a new location at Saadiyat Island overlooking the beach.
Brewing Coffee the Ethiopian Way
For the coffee lovers, Ethiopia is a buzz word making Ethiopian coffee probably the most popular origin here in the UAE next to Brazil. As per legend, coffee was actually discovered in this African country by a goat herder named Kaldi. His goats were more “jumpy” than usual after eating from a plant with small red fruits.
The Coffee Story: Lameen Abdul Malik
Lameen has been writing on his coffee blog for over 14 years now. He is also a Nobel Peace Prize winner and owned a coffee shop in Cape Town in 2010. He now continues his coffee dream in Dubai and has launched his coffee blend called From Coffee With Love.
The Coffee Story
Have you ever wondered who’s behind the cup of coffee served to you? When it comes to me, I am very intrigued and often watch closely what is happening behind the barista bar. I’m not trying to be creepy here, but my aim is to learn from their work flow and spot any unusual brewing methods, if any, which is usually a conversation starter.
